The difference

Why Blacktop Family Fleet

Content that actually gets seen

Every boat gets a professional video, edited for social media — not just a photo gallery on a static page.

You only pay when it works

Marketing and viewing fees are billed on success. No commission until the boat is sold.

Support beyond the sale Coming soon

Introductions to vetted lawyers, surveyors, and post-purchase specialists — for buyers and sellers alike.

Presentation

First Impressions Sell Boats

Buyers scroll quickly. A handful of dim, cluttered phone photos gets passed over in seconds — even on a well-maintained boat. Clear, well-lit, professional presentation is what makes a buyer stop scrolling and start asking questions.

Typical Listing Photo

Dim, cluttered, easy to scroll past. Poor light and awkward angles make even a great boat look tired — and invite low, hesitant offers.

Clear, considered, built to be noticed. Professional light, composition and editing show the boat as it deserves to be seen — and attract buyers who are ready to act.

Services

Choose the level of help you need

Every boat is different, and so is the right approach for selling it. Pricing is discussed personally during a free, no-obligation consultation — reach out and let's talk about your boat.

01

Marketing only

Professional photography, video and a listing built to be noticed. You handle buyer conversations yourself.

02

Marketing + viewings

Everything above, plus I manage enquiries, arrange viewings and sea trials, and keep serious buyers engaged.

03

Full brokerage

End to end, through to signed paperwork and transferred registration. Commission applies only once the boat is sold.

During this launch phase, marketing and viewing services are billed only on success — nothing is owed if the boat doesn't sell. From 2027, a commission-based option is also available.

How It Works

Five steps, one point of contact

A clear path from our first conversation to a finished sale — so you always know what happens next.

  1. Free Consultation

We talk about your boat, your goals, and your timeline. No pressure, no obligation — just an honest conversation about what selling well would look like.

  2. Visit Your Boat

I come to see your boat in person, assess its condition and features, and plan the best angles, light, and details for its presentation.

  3. Professional Photos & Video

A full photography and video session — on deck, below, and underway where possible — edited into material that does your boat justice, and published to reach real, qualified buyers. You'll see the final video before it goes live, so anything that needs adjusting can be fixed before it's public.

  4. Viewings & Buyer Communication

I manage every enquiry, arrange viewings or a sea trial, and make sure no serious buyer is ever left waiting.

  5. Closing & Beyond

Paperwork, registration transfer, and payment — commission only applies once the deal is done. From there, an introduction to the trusted network for anything the new owner needs next.

About

Built on a Passion for Sailing

I started Blacktop Family Fleet because of a simple observation: too many good sailboats are let down by presentation, not by the boats themselves. Owners who've taken excellent care of their vessels often end up with listings that don't reflect that care at all.

My background is in sailing itself, not in claiming years of brokerage deals — what I bring is genuine attention to detail, a real understanding of what makes a boat's story compelling to a buyer, and the commitment to treat every listing, whatever its size or price, with the same level of professionalism.

Because Blacktop Family Fleet is new, every owner I work with gets my direct, personal attention from the first call to the final signature — there's no larger team standing between us, just one point of contact, and one clear commitment: to represent your boat honestly and well.

FAQ

Questions owners and buyers ask

For owners

How does the process work?

It starts with a free, no-obligation consultation to understand your boat and goals. From there I visit the boat, produce professional photography and video, create and promote the listing, and manage buyer enquiries through to sale.

Do I need to prepare my boat?

A clean, tidy boat photographs best, so a basic clean and declutter beforehand helps. I'll let you know exactly what to prepare before the photography and video visit so we make the most of it.

Where do you operate?

Based in Barcelona, working with owners across Spain and Portugal, covering the main marinas and coastal areas. If your boat is elsewhere, get in touch — arrangements can often still be made.

What types of boats do you work with?

Sailboats, catamarans, and light sailing dinghies (Optimist, Laser, 420, J/70, J/80, and similar) are the main focus, since that's where my experience and passion lie. In this early stage I'm also open to motor boats and yachts when the opportunity comes up — if that's what you have, reach out and we can talk through whether it's a good fit.

How long does the process take?

It depends on the boat, the price and market conditions. What I can promise is that once your boat is listed, it will be actively marketed and every enquiry will be followed up promptly.

What happens after someone is interested?

I qualify the enquiry, arrange a viewing or sea trial with you, and support both sides through any offer, negotiation and paperwork needed to complete the sale.

Can I choose just marketing, or the full sale process?

That's entirely up to you — some owners just want professional marketing and prefer to handle buyers themselves, others want the full process through to a closed sale. We'll agree on what fits your situation before getting started.

What if my boat doesn't sell?

You only pay the full marketing fee if the boat sells — a small deposit covers the process either way, so there's no risk in getting started.

Do I have to sign an exclusive contract?

No — contracts are non-exclusive, so you keep your options open while we work together.

How do you handle my keys and access to the boat?

Keys are only held for the duration of an agreed viewing, and every visit is scheduled and accompanied in person — you're never left wondering who has access or when.

Can I see examples of your work before deciding?

Of course — just ask, and I'll share the boats already photographed and listed so you know exactly what to expect.

For buyers

Do I need an account to enquire?

No. Message me about any boat directly, by form or WhatsApp — there's nothing to sign up for.

Can I view the boat before committing?

Yes. I arrange viewings at the boat's marina, and sea trials where the owner agrees to one. I'm there in person for both.

Can I get an independent survey?

Absolutely, and it's encouraged on any boat of significant value. I'll arrange a surveyor through the trusted network, or work with one you choose yourself.

Are there any other services available?

Yes — additional services such as surveys, legal support, and post-purchase assistance are available separately, arranged through my trusted network on request.

I'm not local — can you help?

Yes. I can send additional photos or video of anything specific you want to see, and help coordinate a visit or a surveyor on your behalf before you travel.
